Doubtful Sound Launch

A memorable trip for all

This trip is made on a very modern and comfortable launch again operated by Real Journeys. This trip provides the visitor with magnificent views of the mountains, and the Sound leaving one to wonder at the manner in which all this beauty was created, the creativity and the power of the forces of nature. Seals, the Fiordland Crested Penguin and the smaller Blue Penguin are often sighted on these trips, while the actions of the resident pod of Bottle Nosed Dolphins should they be sighted will be a talking point for many, for days to come. 

Launch and bus bookings

These are made through Real Journeys, Manapouri 0800 - 656-502. Please contact Real Journeys for costs. The buses are 44 seaters and Real Journeys are unable to exceed this number. Sometimes with prior discussion extra passengers can be accommodated on alternative transport. Schools are encouraged to book on the Doubtful Sounds Scenic Launch Trip.

As well as being a great adventure, giving opportunity to view the spectacular scenery and land forms there is a significant return to the Deep Cove Outdoor Education Trust as we collect the pupil charge to go towards hostel improvements. We are grateful to Real Journeys for this arrangement.
